Hello, loves!
A little bit of a life update post is coming your way, which I realized is something I don’t do a whole lot of on here. I find that it helps so much to talk about what’s going on in my life, so hopefully this outlet continues the trend!
So, first a little about my health. I decided to undergo sclerotherapy a couple of weeks ago in an attempt to rid my legs of some of the varicose veins I’ve endured since I was 14 years old. They didn’t cause any pain, just itchiness when I would go running, but other than that, my decision was purely out of vanity. They’re not pretty to look at, and a bitch to try to photoshop out when editing pictures. The procedure actually didn’t hurt that much during, but had me in tears by the time I got home. Flash forward a week, and it was mostly just intense bruising, along with signs of healing as well.
Another week, and I noticed a spot that had been a bit flared up now had a blister on it, filled with liquid from the injection. Cue the “ewwww”! Without going in to too much detail, the spot took a turn and now has turned necrotic, which basically means the skin is dying while still attached to my leg. It’s incredibly painful, as it’s basically a chemical burn, not to mention unsightly, meaning I can’t shoot or work out or even drive without pain.
The other major stressor in my life right now has been the hit-and-run accident that occurred the first day of the month. A presumably drunk driver hit a neighbor’s van, then backed up 4 houses, up over the curb, and into my car and the tree in our front lawn. Thankfully the tree was there to slow him down, because otherwise he probably would have landed in our garage! This took place about 10 minutes before I was going to be walking out to my car, and I keep thinking, what if someone had been walking their dog, or a child walking to school?! So grateful that no one was injured.
Long story short, my car was deemed not safe to drive, and I’m having to borrow a family member’s car until we’re able to find something in my price range to replace it. I’ve been waiting on the police report, and supposedly they’re to have it ready within 14 business days, but we’re pushing a new month, so it doesn’t seem like they’re in much of a rush! Until then, we’re stalled filing in small claims court.
I want to thank everyone so much for reaching out with positive vibes, prayers, well wishes, and anything else they’d like to send my way… I need it!
Because I don’t want this post to be a complete Debbie Downer, (too late! ?) I would like to share some good news..
I’ve finished prepping for the Scarlet Threads Consignment sale, where I volunteer, and I’ve also taken on two new projects that I am SO excited to share! You’ll probably see the bulk of both of those if you follow me on Stories. At least I’m keeping busy to take my mind mostly off things, that’s the trick, right?
I’d love to hear from you how you handle stressful life events… Support from friends and family? Retail therapy? Religion? Leave your tips in the comments, they might help me out ?
And now for some fashion, one thing that always makes me happy! I ADORE this navy maxi dress from Mint Julep Boutique. It’s so floaty and flirty, but extremely comfortable at the same time. The styling options are endless too.. It could be paired with sneakers and a baseball cap for running errands, heeled sandals and a stack of bangle bracelets to meet the girls for brunch, or platform wedges and a wide-brim hat for a weekend getaway.
