One of my favorite aspects of living in the town that I do is the amount of restaurants that offer up seasonal local menu items. It’s pretty great knowing that the lettuce on my salad was grown 2 miles away (not only increasing it’s freshness but reducing my carbon footprint), and the citrus in my dessert comes from orange trees that I pass on my way to work. One of my favorite ways to experience this local resourcefulness is by a visit to the Dregs. Because we don’t go too frequently, perhaps once every 2 months, we are treated to a fresh menu each time. This round, we came across baby octopus on a bed of frisee with spicy lime dressing, oxtail poutine with a fried egg on top, and the boarizo burger (boar meat mixed with chorizo), and a side of mixed veggies. The appearance of the little octopi was of course a little off-putting at first, but they were bursting with savory, smoky goodness. We also had some red wine and beer, respectively, and a deconstructed berry turnover a la mode, but it looked too tempting to take a picture of before diving in!!
